Under the Knife
This will be Riley's last morning wearing glasses. We were the first customers at the Moran Eye Center here in Murray. The doors were even locked when we arrived at 6:30 in the morning, so we took a walk around the building while we waited for the staff to arrive and let us in.
Riley didn't seem nervous at all. He was anxious to walk through the door and get the job done.
Don't you love Riley's new cap that controled his curls during surgery. He was talkative and upbeat with all the staff. He made a number of jokes and kept things lively for everyone. I have no doubt that he was their most entertaining patient of the day.
Here is Riley's pre-surgical make up job.
Betadine in the eyes doesn't feel to great. At this point Riley started to tear up, but kept a smile on his face. Don't you love the upside down name tag; that is so that the Dr. can read it.
Riley walked through the door without a second thought. He had done his research on the procedure and was ready to get it over with. Dr. Miftlin performed the surgery which only took about 7 minutes per eye. I got to watch via a huge flat screen TV in an adjoining room. I had to close my eyes on a number of occasion out of motherly sympathy. Twenty minutes later Riley walked out as happy as he had arrive and stated that he could see fabulously without his glasses that were tucked in my purse, never to be needed again.
